Meeting point at Parque de los Periodistas, where we will verify the group and begin the tour.
- 09:00 a.m. – Departure from Parque de la 93
Pickup at the second meeting point before heading toward Zipaquirá, located approximately 50 km (31 miles) north of Bogotá. The drive takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes, passing through the scenic landscapes of the Andean highlands.
- 11:00 a.m. – Visit to the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá (2 hours)
Entrance to the iconic Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá, an extraordinary underground church built 180 meters (590 feet) below ground inside a former salt mine.
You will have approximately 2 hours of free exploration to walk through the tunnels carved into salt rock, passing the 14 Stations of the Cross sculpted by miners and artists. As you move through the cathedral, you will learn how this former mining site was transformed into one of the most remarkable underground sanctuaries in the world.
The visit concludes in the main nave, where the monumental illuminated cross — carved directly into the salt rock — and the dramatic underground architecture create a truly awe-inspiring atmosphere. The experience blends engineering, art, history, and religious symbolism in a setting unlike any other in Latin America.
