- Day 1 – Welcome to Bogotá and first look at the city at your own pace
Upon arrival at El Dorado International Airport, a private transfer will be waiting to take you comfortably to your hotel in Bogotá, where you will stay for three nights. After checking in, it`s time to start discovering the city at your own pace with one of the most flexible and comprehensive ways to explore: the Hop On – Hop Off tour.
This panoramic tour, designed so you can hop on and off wherever and whenever you want, will take you to the most iconic corners of the Colombian capital. From the colonial streets of La Candelaria to the modern gastronomic neighborhoods of Zona G and Zona T, each stop will invite you to experience a piece of Bogotá`s history, culture, and vibrant local life.
You can walk among urban art murals, marvel at the views from Monserrate Hill (entrance ticket not included), browse traditional markets like La Concordia, or indulge in local flavors at Parque de los Periodistas. With the freedom to choose your pace and your interests, this first day will be the perfect introduction to a city that combines modernity, tradition, and a unique energy.
- Day 2 – Guatavita and Zipaquirá: Legend of El Dorado and Salt Cathedral
On this second day, one of the most impressive trips from Bogotá awaits you. Very early in the morning, you will begin the adventure towards the highlands of Cundinamarca, with strategic meeting points at Parque de los Periodistas and Parque de la 93. From there, the road winds through green mountains until it reaches one of the most enigmatic settings in Colombian indigenous history: the Guatavita Lagoon.
Nestled within the Chingaza Natural Park, this sacred lagoon witnessed ancient Muisca rituals, where the chief, covered in gold dust, would immerse himself in its waters offering emeralds and precious metals to the gods. This mythical ceremony gave rise to the legendary story of El Dorado, which for centuries fueled the greed of European conquerors.
The hike along the trails of the Andean moorland, accompanied by an expert local guide, will not only reveal the secrets of these ancestral traditions, but will also connect you with a silent and powerful landscape, where the fog and the wind create an almost supernatural atmosphere.
After this immersive experience in nature, the day continues in Zipaquirá, a charming colonial town where you will enjoy free time for lunch and to walk through its cobblestone streets before entering one of the most surprising landmarks of contemporary Colombian architecture: The Salt Cathedral.
The day culminates with a brief visit to the historic center of Zipaquirá, where you will have free time to have a coffee, enjoy the local atmosphere or purchase handicrafts, before returning to Bogotá in the evening.
- Day 3 – Coffee and Tradition: Exploring the Coffee Culture in Cundinamarca
Today you will leave Bogotá again to delve into the coffee-growing heart of Cundinamarca, on a journey that combines mountain landscapes, living history, and the delicious aroma of one of Colombia`s most emblematic products: its coffee.
After meeting up with the group at the meeting points, you will begin the tour through the green hills surrounding the capital to reach the coffee farm. With the guidance of experts, you will learn the entire process behind a high-quality cup of coffee: from planting and harvesting to grinding and cupping. You`ll learn traditional and sustainable techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation and have the opportunity to taste the coffee varieties grown there, in a serene and natural setting.
The day will conclude with lunch (not included) at a traditional restaurant, before returning to Bogotá in the late afternoon.
It will be a day to reconnect with the essentials, savor Colombia from its roots, and discover why Colombian coffee is considered one of the best in the world.
- Day 4 – Farewell to Bogotá and last look
Your last day in Bogotá begins with a private transfer from your hotel to El Dorado Airport. Depending on your flight schedule and if you have a few hours to spare, you could still take advantage of the opportunity to take one last stroll around the city.
A farewell worthy of Bogotá: vibrant, diverse, and full of history in every corner.
