Day 1 - Manaure, Uribia and Cabo de la Vela
Our getaway starts at 08:30 am in Riohacha, from where you will head towards the Salinas de Manaure. In this place, you will have the opportunity to explore the ponds where salt is extracted in an artisanal way, accompanied by local guides who will tell you about this millennial tradition. Afterwards of this unique experience, you will make a brief stop in Uribia to have a snack, stretch your legs and prepare to continue towards theiconic Cabo de la Vela, a journey that will take approximately two hours.
Cabo de la Vela has a rich history that dates back to pre-Columbian times. It was an important meeting and trade point for the indigenous cultures of the region, including the Wayúu, whose presence dates back centuries. The area has witnessed numerous historical events and is considered sacred by local communities due to its spiritual and cultural connection.
Upon arrival at the Cape, you will be welcomed with a delicious lunch at your accommodation, followed of exploring some of its most emblematic points. In addition to the Rainbow Beach, famous for the impressive rainbows that form when the waves crash against the rocks, you can ascend the Pilón de Azúcar, a sacred site for the community i>Wayúu from where you can admire incomparable panoramic views of the extensive coast and the desert.
The day ends with the option to witness a spectacular sunset at Playa Ojo de Agua or at the Lighthouse, depending on the time available after the day`s activities.
Day 2 - Mayapo
After After a comforting breakfast, you will head towards the impressive beaches of Mayapo, approximately three hours away from Cabo de la Vela. There, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a lunch that includes some of the most exquisite dishes of Guajira cuisine, while you relax on the white sand and crystal clear waters.
Mayapo is known for being an ideal destination for nautical activities due to its good winds and waves, perfect for those who enjoy surfing or kiteboarding. These activities are not included in the plan, but you can hire them directly at the destination.
Take advantage of your free time to enjoy the beaches of Mayapo and explore the surroundings before beginning the return to Riohacha. This two-day getaway to Cabo de la Vela will have offered you a perfect combination of relaxation, culture and history.
