The tour will begin with a warm welcome at our meeting point in Getsemaní, where you will meet your guide and local chef. From there, you will head to the vibrant Bazurto Market, the soul of Cartagena`s gastronomy. As you stroll through its colorful, bustling aisles, you will discover an amazing variety of local and exotic ingredients.
The guide will introduce you to the vendors, who will share with you the stories behind their products. You`ll be able to taste fresh fruits such as soursop, lulo, and mamey, as well as try typical snacks, from stuffed arepas to fried empanadas. In addition, you`ll learn to select the best ingredients and perfect the art of haggling like a true Cartagena native, enjoying the famous “ñapa,” that little extra sample that vendors always offer.
After the tour, you`ll return to the cooking studio, where the cooking demonstration will begin. Under the expert guidance of the chef, you will learn key techniques of Colombian cuisine and be guided step by step in the preparation of traditional dishes.
Together with the other participants, you will cook as a team, following the chef`s instructions and receiving personalized advice. The experience will be relaxed and collaborative, allowing you to learn and experiment as you create your own versions of the dishes.
Finally, everyone will sit down together to enjoy the food they have prepared. It will be a time of sharing and discovery, where conversations about flavors, textures, and culinary secrets will be intertwined with anecdotes and learnings about Cartagena`s rich gastronomic history.
