The tour begins with a meeting with the guide at your place of accommodation in downtown Cartagena. You can choose the start time of the activity, we recommend that it be in the early hours of the morning or at sunset, since that is when the local fauna and flora are most active.
We will head towards La Boquilla beach, a small fishing village located on the outskirts of Cartagena. There, the local guide will welcome us and provide us with information about the tour.
Next, we will board the canoes, small boats that will allow us to enter the mangroves. During the tour, we will be able to admire the beauty of the endemic fauna and flora. Surely we will meet some herons or pelicans along the way and an immensity of species of trees and coastal plants.
We will cross the mangrove forest through some of the natural tunnels such as the tunnel of friendship, the tunnel of love and the tunnel of luck. We will visit the Ciénaga de Juan Polo, a protected area that is under the surveillance of the local government and environmental organizations to guarantee its preservation.
We will learn about local life and the history of the region. We will see the fishermen of the area and their stilt houses, houses built on wooden stilts in the water.
We will finish the tour through the mangroves returning to La Boquilla beach, where we can tour the area and/or relax on the beach with a refreshing drink of cold coconut water.
We will finally be back to the center of Cartagena, after a very enriching experience that combines the natural beauty of the landscape with the local culture of the region.
The tour ends with the drop off at your place of accommodation (only hotels in the city center).
