For this tour, you can choose between the morning departure at 8:00 AM or the afternoon departure at 1:00 PM . At the meeting point, our team will greet you and provide you with all the information to begin the tour.
We depart from Medellín for Santa Elena , the quintessential flower-growing town, located 50 minutes from the city. During the journey in a panoramic vehicle, your guide will tell you how the Flower Festival originated in the 1950s as a tribute to the region`s flower growers, and how the flower growers of Santa Elena have carried on their backs since the 19th century a legacy that is now a symbol of Colombia to the world.
Upon arriving at the farm, the silleteros (flower growers) will welcome you with folk music and the aroma of freshly cut flowers. The guided tour of the flowerbeds will begin, where you`ll learn the entire process of creating a silleta (flower arrangement): the selection of the flower species, the structure, the color composition, and the message each family chooses to convey through their creation. You`ll have the opportunity to speak directly with the silleteros, hear their stories, and understand the significance of carrying a silleta on the day of the parade.
During the visit, you`ll participate in a hands-on demonstration of assembling a silleta (a traditional Santa Elena chair) and enjoy a typical snack while the experience unfolds. At the end, you`ll receive a mulera ( a type of traditional Santa Elena chair) as a souvenir—the most authentic memento you can take home from Santa Elena .
After approximately four hours of travel, we returned to Medellín. The tour ends at the meeting point, and the 2026 Flower Festival awaits you outside.
