The journey begins in Puerto Natales, where we`ll meet early in the morning to cross the fjord by boat to Estancia Mercedes, a hidden corner of Chilean Patagonia that is only accessible by water. This first leg immerses us in the adventure, sailing through landscapes of unspoiled beauty, with mountains, glaciers, and forests reflected in the calm waters. Upon disembarking at the estancia, we`ll be greeted by horses and begin an unforgettable two-day, one-night expedition through the vastness of the pampas.
Mounted on horseback, we`ll begin the ascent along little-traveled trails that pass through native forests, mallines, and open terrain that offer increasingly impressive views. As we gain altitude, the landscape transforms: the imposing reliefs of the Moore Mountain Range, the majestic Cerro Ballena, and the wide valleys that characterize this area of the Antonio Varas Peninsula appear before us. Nature reveals itself in its purest state, with intense colors, subtle sounds, and a feeling of freedom that is difficult to describe.
Our destination is Laguna Cóndor, located high on a hill, a mirror of crystal-clear water surrounded by mountains and silence. There we will set up camp, putting up tents in the middle of the Patagonian pampas, with nothing but nature for company. Around a lit campfire, we will share a simple but comforting dinner, cooked by everyone, as night falls. Under a clear sky, millions of stars will unfold above us, giving us one of those nights that will remain etched in our memory forever.
The second day begins with a rustic breakfast, followed by the descent, which is made along a different route than the one we took up. This new route allows us to continue discovering hidden corners of the estancia and enjoy new perspectives of the landscape. It is a unique opportunity to appreciate the immensity of the territory, feel the rhythm of the environment, and connect deeply with nature.
This journey is much more than a hike: it is an authentic, intimate, and transformative experience. A trip where time stands still, disconnection is real, and the adventurous spirit reconnects with the essence of Patagonia.
