We will depart from Laguna Amarga where the visitor center is located, and we will cross the Asencio River, the El Chileno Campground. We`ll pass through spectacular Lenga forests and streams that cascade down from Mount Almirante Nieto.

After a hike of about 5 hours in total along a sometimes demanding trail, we will arrive at the Mirador Base Torres located between the mountains. These three granite peaks rise into the sky at about 2,850 meters above sea level, shaped only by the force of the glaciers…

Details of Day Tours

We will begin our adventure departing from Puerto Natales between 7:00 and 7:30 AM in a private vehicle with heating and air conditioning. After almost 2 hours of driving, we will arrive at Torres del Paine National Park through the Laguna Amarga Gatehouse sector, to the visitor center at Hotel Las Torres.

After a safety briefing by our specialized guide, we will begin our trek at approximately 9:00 a.m.

We will begin the trek by walking for approximately 2 hours, crossing the Asencio River and entering the Asencio Valley until we reach El Chileno Camp. We will then continue along the medium-difficulty trail for approximately 1 hour to the Lenga Forest, an endemic tree. We`ll pass several streams that fall from Mount Almirante Nieto, and climb a Glacial Moraine where we begin the ascent up a kind of staircase/rock for about 30 minutes.

This last stretch is the most demanding, but it`s all worth it when we reach the Amphitheater of Mirador Las Torres. Here you`ll have time to enjoy the views, connect with nature, take lots of photos, and eat our box lunch with this landscape in the background.

After this well-deserved rest and meal, with our energy restored, we begin our return journey along the same route to Hotel Las Torres. We will return with our guide in the vehicle to Puerto Natales between approximately 7:30 and 8:00 p.m.

You will never forget this adventure. We look forward to seeing you!

Nature and Wildlife Hiking & Trekking Mountains

The total duration of the trekking excursion to the base of Torres del Paine is approximately 8 to 10 hours, depending on the group`s pace and weather conditions. This time includes the round-trip journey from the trailhead. It`s recommended to start early in the morning to make the most of daylight hours and enjoy the unique landscape of Torres del Paine National Park, a World Heritage Site. It`s an unforgettable experience that allows you to fully connect with Chilean nature.
The trek to the base of Torres del Paine is classified as a medium to high difficulty hike. It requires good physical fitness due to the long distances and some steep slopes. The trails can be uneven with some sections of loose rock, so it`s important to be physically prepared. Preparing for the hike with regular hikes and endurance exercises is recommended. It`s also essential to have the right equipment, such as hiking boots, walking sticks, waterproof clothing, and a sufficient supply of water and energy-boosting food to complete the hike comfortably.
For the trek to the base of Torres del Paine, it`s essential to bring a backpack with basic items such as enough water (at least 2 liters per person), energy snacks, and clothing appropriate for weather changes, including thermal layers, a waterproof jacket, sunscreen, a cap or hat, and sunglasses. It`s recommended to bring a first aid kit, park maps, and a fully charged cell phone. Don`t forget a camera to capture the spectacular views of the towers. Choose a comfortable and durable backpack to enjoy the hike.
Hiring a tour guide for the trek to the base of Torres del Paine is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended, especially for first-time visitors. An experienced guide not only provides safety but also enriches the experience by sharing valuable information about the park`s flora, fauna, and geology. Furthermore, a guide is aware of weather conditions and the best routes, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable excursion. For the more adventurous, a self-guided experience is possible, but should be planned carefully.
The best time to trek to the base of Torres del Paine is during the warmer months of October through April, which correspond to spring and summer in the Southern Hemisphere. During this period, temperatures are more pleasant and days are longer, offering more daylight hours to enjoy the scenery. However, these are also the busiest seasons, so it`s advisable to plan and book in advance. Although the weather can be unpredictable, being prepared with appropriate clothing will allow you to enjoy the park at any time of year.
