We will begin to experience the magic and power of Patagonia at its best with this 5-day Puerto Natales and Torres del Paine Active adventure!

We will stay in the beautiful, small, and quaint coastal town of Puerto Natales, the closest to Torres del Paine National Park, in a charming boutique hostel and have the opportunity to explore this stunning region through exciting hikes.

Day 1: Puerto Natales – Hostal Factoría

Welcome to Patagonia! Today we will arrive in Puerto Natales, a charming place that will be our starting point for discovering the unique landscapes of this region. We will enjoy a cozy night at Hostal Factoría, where our adventure will begin.

Day 2: Puerto Natales – Full Day Torres Base Camp

We will enjoy a delicious breakfast before departing from the hostel at approximately 7:00 am for Torres del Paine National Park. Our adventure will begin at the Cerro Paine Reserve, where we will enter the Ascencio Valley through a steep zigzag path that will take us to breathtaking landscapes. After approximately an hour of hiking, we will reach the Chileno Refuge, located on the opposite bank of the Ascencio River, surrounded by a lenga forest. We will continue ascending moderately, crossing several slopes that descend from Cerro Almirante Nieto. After approximately one hour and ten minutes from the Chileno Refuge, we will reach the foot of the moraine, where the trail becomes steeper. After another half-hour hike, we will reach the eastern end of the lagoon, 700 meters above sea level, from where we will enjoy spectacular views of the Three Towers, as well as the Peineta and Condor Nest Hills. After a well-deserved rest and a restorative box lunch in this unique setting, we will begin our return journey along the same trail until we reach the starting point and return to Puerto Natales.

This full-day hike includes a challenging 8- to 10-hour hike, covering approximately 22 km.

Accommodation at Hostal Factoría or a similar 3-star hotel with breakfast.

Day 3: Trekking to Rock Paintings

We will head north of Puerto Natales, just over 25 km away, to embark on an exciting day of exploration in the Ernesto Helmer Estancia Archaeological Park. This landscape, which rises from the seabed, will allow us to admire imposing mountains, natural crevices, mysterious overhangs, and steep valleys.

Here, we will have the opportunity to spot majestic condors that dominate the skies. Upon reaching the summit, we will be rewarded with a spectacular panoramic view of the Eberhard Fjord and the Señoret Channel. In addition, we will explore Cerro Benítez, a paleontological area that houses cave paintings that are approximately 3,500 years old.

The adventure continues with a visit to the "Window Cave", followed by an exciting exploration of the "Hidden Cave", where we must advance with flashlights and in a tip-toe position. This cave, approximately 4 meters high and 70 square meters in area, is home to ancient stalactites that will captivate you.

After this exciting underground experience, we will continue the hike to the overhangs known as "Dos Herraduras", crossing lush forests until we reach the rock walls adorned with ancient cave paintings. At the end, we will return to Puerto Natales.

This medium-intensity experience takes approximately 5 hours.

Accommodation at Hostal Factoría or similar 3-star hotel with breakfast.

Day 4: Full Day Miradores del Paine

Today we will have the opportunity to explore two impressive viewpoints in Torres del Paine.

In the morning, a private transfer will pick us up at the hostel in Puerto Natales and take us to the Torres del Paine National Park. During the trip, we will enjoy the spectacular landscapes as we head towards Camping Pehoé, where our first hike to Mirador Cóndor will begin. The hike will last approximately one hour, following a steep and sometimes windy trail, with rocky terrain. Upon reaching the summit, we will be rewarded with panoramic views of Lakes Pehoé and Nordenskjold, Lakes Pincoya and Negra, and majestic mountains such as the Cuernos del Paine and Paine Grande. We`ll descend along the same path and then continue by vehicle to your next destination, Mirador Los Cuernos.

After a short vehicle ride of no more than 10 minutes, we`ll arrive at the Salto Grande sector, where we will begin the hike to Mirador Salto Grande. Here we can admire the impressive force of nature in its imposing waterfall. Then, we`ll continue the hike to the Los Cuernos Lookout, following a gentle trail and enjoying the abundant natural beauty. During the hike, it`s common to spot guanacos. Upon reaching the lookout, we`ll be greeted by panoramic views of Lake Nordenskjold, the Cuernos del Paine, and the French Valley. This tour package includes a complete experience in Torres del Paine National Park during the winter season. The itinerary includes round-trip transportation from Puerto Natales, expert Spanish-speaking guides, accommodations in lodges or camps based on availability, and meals throughout the excursion. Activities such as hiking to iconic viewpoints, observing local wildlife, and glacial landscapes are also included. This is one of the most comprehensive tour packages for exploring the natural wonders of Torres del Paine in winter, providing a unique experience in one of Chile`s most popular destinations.
The "Torres del Paine Active Winter" excursion is scheduled during the winter season, generally from May to September, when the park is less crowded and the beauty of the snowy landscape is unparalleled. The experience lasts approximately four days and three nights, offering complete immersion in the park. For exact dates and to ensure availability, booking in advance is recommended. You can check the departure schedule on the excursion`s official website to adjust your travel plan and enjoy an authentic experience in Chilean Patagonia.
To participate in the "Torres del Paine Active Winter" tour, it`s essential to bring the appropriate equipment to enjoy the outdoor activities. It`s recommended to dress in layers, including thermal clothing, a waterproof and windproof coat, waterproof hiking boots, hats, gloves, and thermal scarves. Also, don`t forget to bring a good backpack, reusable water bottle, and sunscreen. The weather in Torres del Paine can be unpredictable even in winter, so being prepared for the low temperatures and changing weather conditions is crucial for a safe and comfortable trip.
The activities included in the Torres del Paine Active Winter package require a moderate level of fitness, as participants will hike for several hours to reach panoramic viewpoints and explore remote areas of the park. Previous hiking experience and a good level of physical condition are recommended to maximize the enjoyment of the trip. Although the hikes are not technical, the combination of distances, uneven terrain, and variable weather conditions can present a challenge. If you have any medical concerns, consult your doctor before engaging in this type of activity.
The Torres del Paine winter tour offers a unique perspective of the park compared to other seasons. During winter, the park transforms into a magical landscape of snow and ice, with fewer tourists, allowing for a more intimate and personal experience with nature. Crowds are significantly smaller, providing a rare opportunity to enjoy popular sites in peace. Additionally, winter is an excellent season for wildlife viewing, as many animals are attracted to the lower areas of the park. This spectacular and secluded setting offers an unparalleled opportunity for photographers and nature lovers.
