Our activity starts at 08:00 AM. One of our vehicles will pick you up at your accommodation in Santa Marta and take you to the cocoa farm in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. During the trip, you will be able to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the mountains and learn about the region from the local guide from Baquiano.

Around 09 AM we will arrive at the farm. We will be welcomed by the hosts, who will introduce us to the wonderful world of cocoa. The farm is family-owned and has an inspiring story: its owners, victims of the armed conflict, decided to become cocoa farmers and have managed to build a successful venture.

You will start the journey with the cocoa workshop, where you will witness the dedication and care with which this fruit is produced in the region. You will learn about the varieties of cacao grown in the Sierra Nevada, such as the prized criollo cacao and trinitario cacao, Recognized for their aromatic characteristics and exceptional flavors.

The farm hosts will share with you the secrets of planting, caring for the trees and the harvesting process. You will be able to get involved actively in harvesting the ripe fruits and experience firsthand the thrill of being a part of this work.

As the tour progresses, you will be immersed in the fascinating process of transforming cocoa into chocolate. From the fermentation of the beans to their drying and subsequent grinding, you will discover each stage and how it influences the final flavor of the chocolate.

At approximately 02 PM we will return to Santa Marta, the transport will leave you at your place of accommodation, thus concluding the 6-hour itinerary of the cocoa tour.
