The tour will begin at 09 AM at the designated meeting point.
Our first stop will be the MioCable station, the cable car that will take us to Comuna 20. The history of this transportation system is intertwined with the desire to provide development opportunities to a historically marginalized community. Since its inauguration, the MioCable has represented more than a means of transportation; It has been a symbol of progress andempowerment for the inhabitants of the commune and its surroundings.
From the cable car We will obtain unique panoramic views of the commune and the city, allowing us to appreciate the urban evolution and the beauty of Cali from above.
Upon arriving at the Commune, we will receive a brief introduction about the area and its roots. Comuna 20 is home to 11 neighborhoods, highlighting among them the renowned Siloé which has gone through great challenges, including periods of violence, socioeconomic difficulties and confrontations related to drug trafficking and the presence of illegal armed groups.
Despite the wounds left by those dark moments, the inhabitants of Siloam have united with collective effort, social programs and determination to change the image of the neighborhood and create a safer and more prosperous environment.
We will enter the heart of Siloé to learn from our local guide some of the stories of its inhabitants. We will visit the Mirador “Yo Amo A Siloe” an observation point where you will marvel at the most impressive panoramic views of the commune. You will have time totake selfies with spectacular landscapes of the city.
We will continue towards The Ruins of Silowood, a space that keeps stories from the area`s industrial past. These ruins, former structures of the film industry, now serve as a historical and cultural reminder showing the transformation and identity of Siloam over time.
We will make a short stop to enjoy a snack prepared by local enterprises, we will taste the flavors that have remained alive in the commune and that will delight us the palate. Empanadas and Cholao will be the protagonists of this break.
We will conclude the 3 km route with a visit to La Star of Siloam, an iconic structure that symbolizes the hope and resilience of the community. You will learn about its meaning and importance to the inhabitants of Siloam.
We will return to the meeting point after an experience that will have connected you with the strength and heart of this Cali community.
