Our tour starts at 7am at the meeting point which is Magic Bean. From there we will go to the south of Quito for approximately 2:30 hours, where we will visit Saquisilí on Thursdays, Zumbahua on Saturdays and Pujilí on Sundays. All these cities have local craft markets to visit.
The city of Saquisilí is known because the big market takes place in its eight squares. There you can find pots, pans, electronics, herbal remedies, cattle or agricultural products.
The city of Zumbahua is located in the Ecuadorian Andes, in its market you can find native paintings, textile products, ceramics, leather and fruits. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the life and culture of the people who live in this place.
In the town of Pujilí it is known for its Sunday market, its pottery and ceramics, its wide variety of fruits, vegetables and especially its fabrics.
After the visit to some markets, we go to Quilotoa. We will take a walk to reach an emerald-coloured lagoon, located inside a crater of the 3,800 m high volcano called Quilotoa. Inside the lagoon there are springs, which from the coast can be seen as bubbling stelae rising to the surface. On the way we will enjoy the different viewpoints and we will be able to take the best pictures of this wonderful landscape.
Afterwards we will visit Shalala, a community known for its handicraft where the guide will give us an explanation of the importance of this place. Then we will have time for lunch and then visit the Tigua indigenous community. Here artists are born who capture the indigenous experience in the Andean heaths on stuffed sheepskin.
Around 3pm we will start our journey to Quito, where our transport will leave us at Magic Bean.
