The tour starts at 7:00 am at our meeting point in the San Blas district. From there we will travel approximately 2:30 am where we will walk along the Avenue of the Volcanoes, being able to see the Andes Mountains, which opens the way to connect various natural attractions, until we reach the Cotopaxi National Park.
Once we arrive at the park, we will be able to buy handicrafts made by indigenous people such as ponchos and divers that will help us fight the strong cold of the volcano. On the way to the volcano, we will make technical stops to adapt to the temperature of the heights. We will arrive at the car park to have a walk to a refuge where they will be waiting for us with a breakfast and to be able to rest.
Then, we will walk for two hours to 5000 meters to see the glacier at the foot of the Cotopaxi volcano, the second highest in Ecuador. During this trek they will explain to us about the importance of this volcano, its last eruption, its animals and vegetation.
We will return to the refuge to take shelter with a box lunch once we have finished, they will help us with a small talk to explain the descent we will make by bike. Then, we will begin the descent with the bicycles during two hours until the Limpiopungo lagoon, we will walk with our guide around the lagoon.
Afterwards we will visit the museum and interpretation centre where we can appreciate Andean flora, bird watching and the incredible landscape. We will then return to Quito around 4:00 pm.
