Institute Experience

We booked the Instituto experience for our anniversary, bringing our two young kids, and it turned into one of the trip’s happiest afternoons. Our small group was cheerful and easygoing, with local fans swapping stories while the guide showed us around the stadium and club spaces. The kids loved hearing the chants and spotting the red-and-white details everywhere. Outside, Córdoba’s sunny streets and distant sierras made a beautiful backdrop; we even paused for a family photo beside a mural near the entrance. Nothing felt rushed, and everyone included us.

On the day, our guide Martín met me at the airport with a clear sign and a surprisingly detailed plan. He explained how the Quebrada del Toro differs geologically from the Calchaquí Valley, and pointed out a tiny pre-Hispanic irrigation channel near Cachi that I would have missed alone. Cafayate’s roadside empanadas and the vineyard stop made the long day fly by. I enjoyed every minute between business meetings.

Our guide, Martina, made the Evita Experience feel like a conversation rather than a history lecture. She knew the small details—pointing out the balcony where Perón addressed the crowd and explaining why the Recoleta chapel matters—without drowning us in dates. Pickup from our Palermo hotel was exactly 8:30, and the minivan reached each stop smoothly, even through midday traffic. We never had to chase the driver or wait around. The route was well paced, with enough time for photos and questions. My partner and I left with a much clearer sense of Evita’s impact on Buenos Aires.

Starting in El Calafate, the drive to El Chaltén was part of the fun: wide Patagonian valleys, turquoise Lake Viedma, and Fitz Roy appearing between clouds. The boat ride across the lake was a highlight, with icebergs drifting beside us and the glacier glowing blue. Our kids loved the short walk and hot chocolate afterward. Picking us up in El Calafate made this huge summer day surprisingly easy. Our little group clicked fast: a British couple, two Brazilians, and us, all swapping snacks and terrible Spanish jokes by the trailhead. The drive to El Chaltén was gorgeous, with guanacos appearing like roadside celebrities. We hiked through lenga forest, paused at Piedras Blancas viewpoints, and tackled the final climb to Laguna de los Tres—tough, but absolutely worth the view of Fitz Roy. Our guide kept the pace friendly and pointed out condors. Coffee and a quick town wander afterward rounded it off perfectly.
