First, we meet at our meeting point: Rua Florianopolis 134, Barra Salvador. Upon welcoming us, your hosts will begin the step-by-step guide through the culinary adventure.
The cooking class begins with the preparation of traditional appetizers: tapioca with cheese and pepper jelly, cassava with butter, and yuca sticks. As a side dish, we serve pepper jam, which adds an authentic and tasty touch. While we try this appetizer, they teach us how to make a caipirinha.
For the main course, there are three menu options:
- Option
1: Moqueca Bahiana
This seafood stew is typical of northeastern Brazil.
It contains coconut milk, peppers, and spices. You`ll learn how to prepare and serve it with toasted farofa with plantain and white rice, two classic sides. The goal is for you to be able to replicate this recipe at home, using readily available ingredients.
The session ends with the preparation of brigadeiro, a Brazilian chocolate dessert that is the perfect ending to any meal.
- Option 2: Vegetarian Menu
If you prefer meat-free options, the vegetarian menu experience is equally challenging. You`ll use fresh ingredients and local techniques to create adapted versions of traditional Brazilian dishes. All accompanied by appetizers, caipirinhas, and brigadeiro.
The class ends with a shared meal, where you will enjoy the prepared dishes in a relaxed atmosphere. You will also take home printed recipes to replicate what you`ve learned at home.
