Your adventure begins early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel in El Calafate . From there, you`ll embark on your journey to El Chaltén, passing through some of Patagonia`s most iconic landscapes.
During the journey we will make a technical stop in La Leona , where you will have time to use the restrooms and have a good breakfast before continuing on to El Chaltén.
Upon arrival in the village, we will meet our trekking guide, authorized by Los Glaciares National Park , and continue by vehicle to the Río Eléctrico bridge , located approximately 18 km from El Chaltén. The trek will begin from there.
🌲 Trekking towards Laguna de los Tres
The hike begins by crossing a forest of ñire trees, while the trail gradually ascends through the natural landscapes of the region.
One of the first major attractions will be the Piedras Blancas Glacier Viewpoint , from where we can contemplate this impressive hanging glacier and take a break to enjoy the surroundings.
Then we will continue walking through the forest until we reach Camp Poincenot and later Río Blanco , an area used as a camp by climbers seeking to conquer the imposing walls of Fitz Roy.
From there begins the most demanding part of the excursion: the final ascent to Laguna de los Tres .
The effort will be rewarded upon reaching one of Patagonia`s most iconic landscapes. Before us will appear Mount Fitz Roy, the Glaciar de los Tres (Three Glaciers), and the lagoon , surrounded by enormous granite walls.
We will have time to rest, enjoy the scenery and have lunch before starting the descent.
💧 Returning for new landscapes
The return journey will allow us to continue discovering the natural beauty of the area, exploring trails accompanied by streams and crystal-clear watercourses.
During the descent we will also visit Laguna Capri , another of the highlights of the route, before continuing towards El Chaltén.
Once in town, you`ll have approximately 45 minutes of free time to relax and recharge. You can take advantage of this time to enjoy a craft beer, hot chocolate, waffles, or one of the other local culinary offerings.
Finally, we will begin our return journey by vehicle to El Calafate.
