The Tour will start at 8:00 AM at the meeting point at Km 9+300, on the Pamplona-Cúcuta highway, Bucaramanga. From there, you will embark on a fascinating journey through Colombian coffee culture, with a visit to the historic Hacienda Casablanca, an architectural gem dating back to the 18th century. This hacienda, nestled in the mountains of Santander, has witnessed more than two centuries of coffee tradition and still preserves its beautiful colonial corridors and rammed earth walls, making it a place full of history and charm.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a typical regional breakfast, perfect for starting the day. Afterwards, you will begin a tour among immense coffee plantations that cover the mountainsides. During the walk, the guide will explain the entire coffee growing process, starting with the selection of the seeds, which must be of high quality to ensure a good yield. You will learn how coffee trees are planted on terraces to optimize the use of mountainous terrain, and you will learn about the growth cycle, the importance of climate and altitude, factors that make the coffee from this region one of the most appreciated in the world.
As you advance along the trail, you will cross streams with crystal-clear waters that provide the ideal humidity for the coffee plantations and you will reach impressive waterfalls, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing bath in this natural paradise.
After the hike, you will return to the farm to continue with the most technical phase of the coffee process: drying and selection. There, you will observe how the beans are dried in the sun in large patios and how they are carefully classified to separate the best quality ones. Then, you will learn about the roasting process, in which the beans achieve their characteristic aroma and flavor. At this point, your experience will be even more enriching with a coffee tasting workshop, where you will learn to identify the notes and characteristics of specialty coffee.
Finally, you will enjoy a delicious traditional lunch at the hacienda, with local ingredients and authentic flavors of the region, such as fresh trout or typical meat-based dishes. After lunch, you will have time to explore more of the hacienda and take photos. The activity ends around 3:00 PM.
