We will travel the ferry terminal, located in the neighborhood of Puerto Madero, on the shore of the Río de la Plata, the widest in the world and a natural border between Argentina and Uruguay.

Once our vehicle leaves us at the terminal, we will go to the Departures counter,  where we will present our documentation for check-in and then we will be able to board the ferry.

At 09:00 hs, we start sailing and during the course of 1.15 hours, we will be able to enjoy all the facilities the ship offers. Whether sitting in our comfortable seats or out to the balconies to observe our journey, we will be in one of the safest and most reliable ships.

By mid-morning we will arrive to Colonia del Sacramento, where we will be picked up by a private car to start the Sightseeing Tour. Our professional guide will take us around the corners of this city that has become a tourist spot thanks to its proximity to the City of Buenos Aires (50 km) and its old town which consists of a historic district declared World Heritage Site in 1995 thanks its perfect illustration of the fusion of the Portuguese, Spanish (both settlers of the City) and post-colonial styles.

The visit will begin in the area of Real San Carlos, stopping at the Chapel of San Benito and Milhanovich complex where we will find the Plaza de Toros, the pediment, hippodrome and the pier.

Then we will move to the west coast, along the great bay and its beaches, we will tour through the different residential neighborhoods, to reach the city center and the shopping areas and enter the historic district through the Portón de Campo of the old Colonia del Sacramento.

Within the neighborhood, we will enjoy a tour that will give us the reasons why this area of the city was declared a World Heritage Site.

We will finish the tour in the city center, where we can choose to have lunch at one of the many gastronomic options the city offers.

Once we finish lunch, we can go to our hotel for check-in.

In the afternoon, we will have free time to enjoy the facilities of the hotel or to continue touring this picturesque city.

Free night.

Day 2 - In the morning we will have breakfast at our hotel and have the rest of the day to continue discovering Colonia, its culture and gastronomy.

In the afternoon, we will go back to our hotel to pick our luggage and at 14:30 hs, a private car will take us back to the ferry terminal.

After presenting our documentation, we will board the ship which will depart at 16:00 hs, to take us back on the shores of the City of Buenos Aires, arriving around 17:15 hs, where a car will take us back to the hotel in the city center.

To cross the border between Argentina and Uruguay, citizens must present a valid passport or identity card, depending on their country of residence. It`s important to check if you need a visa or additional visa depending on your nationality, although typically, for tourists from Argentina and Mercosur countries, only an ID is required. Also, keep in mind that you may need to complete an immigration form in both countries. Before your trip, always check current immigration regulations at consulates or on official websites to avoid any inconveniences during the border crossing.
Colonia del Sacramento is a destination that can be enjoyed year-round, but the best times to visit are spring (September to November) and fall (March to May). These months offer pleasant temperatures and fewer tourists, allowing you to enjoy the city more peacefully. During the summer (December to February), the weather is warm, ideal for outdoor activities, although it can be more crowded. If you prefer to avoid the cold, it`s best to avoid winter (June to August). Consider local festival dates to enrich your experience.
During their free time in Colonia del Sacramento, tourists can explore the city at their own pace. A visit to the Calle de los Suspiros, lined with colonial houses, is a must. A climb to the Colonia Lighthouse is also recommended for a panoramic view of the city and the river. History buffs can visit the Portuguese Museum and the Municipal Museum. Additionally, you can relax in beautiful parks, enjoy local cuisine in traditional restaurants, and discover unique craft shops. Don`t forget to try the famous chivito, a signature dish of Uruguay.
