We will meet up at 10 am in the Tangol Office located in San Telmo neighborhood. We will start the tour for all those emblematic places in Jorge Bergoglio’s life. In this guided tour that takes 3 hours, we will visit churches, educational institutions and his beloved Club Atletico San Lorenzo de Almagro, among other places that were part of his life in Buenos Aires. The first stop, would be his childhood house in the neighborhood of Flores where he lived with his parents and his siblings. Then, you will visit the schools he attended such as the Instituto Nuestra Señora de la Misericordia & Universidad del Salvador as well as the Iglesia del Salvador. You will visit the church of his childhood and adolescence: The Basilica de San Jose de Flores. This was the Basilica where he received his "divine call" and began serving the Church. He said: "(at that exact moment) I immersed myself in God`s mercy". In this Church, Jorge Bergoglio decided to become a priest. Afterwards, we will continue following Jorge Bergoglio’s journey by seeing the Basílica de María Auxiliadora y San Carlos where he was baptized. Also, we will know the history of while we have a panoramic view of the Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro, of which Pope Francis is passionate fan. Then, we will visit the San Ignacio de Loyola Church, in the Montserrat district, built by the Jesuits in 1675. This is the oldest Church in Buenos Aires and it is part of the “Manzanas de las luces”. We will continue to Plaza de Mayo and in front of this, there is the main catholic temple of Argentina: The Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires. This important 16th century building, was declared a historical monument in 1942, is the Cathedral where the Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Jorge Bergoglio, gave important Masses. Also here, the devoted followers of Pope Francis awaited the announcement that he would proclaim him as Supreme Pontiff.
Amazing Pope Francis Tour As the only individual on this tour, Rocio responded as if she had a group. During the two hour presentation, she constantly shared information and responded to all of my questions. She allowed me time to take photos along the way - all I needed was a minute - and she added comments of how some of the institutions visited since Pope Francis left operate today. Along the way she shared her personal thoughts on the impact Pope Francis has on all. I would highly recommend Rocio as to me she made this tour.Reviewed by Melanie Meheden - 19/03/2020 Excellent Pope Francis Tour Really interesting! Not only did we get to learn a lot of the Popes Francis early life, but we also got to know many different places in BA: it was really great going to non touristic places, such as the neighborhood where he was born and raised, his kindergarden and primary school, or the little soccer field where he used to play ! Dont miss this tour if you are in BA!!! Reviewed by Jack - 29/06/2016 Great Pope Francis Tour!!! Wow!!!
