Enjoy a day of adventure that will immerse you in the natural wonder of the Conguillío National Park in the heart of the
Araucanía.
We will leave the hotel in
Pucón early in the morning at the agreed time to go to Melipeuco about 124 km from the city. Until
reach one of the most relevant places in the region, which is the Conguillío National Park.
The Conguillío emerged in 1950 as a Forest Reserve and in 1970 it was granted the
classification of National Park. In 1987
merges with the Paraguas park, due to its ecological characteristics and
common geographical areas, so its sovereignty currently extends to
60,833 hectares of surface.
The park is
characterized by its extensive forest mass,
in which the araucaria stands out accompanied by other species, as well as
the lagoons with their pure and crystalline waters. Being located in
The mountain area between 700 and 2500 meters above sea level offers us one of the most
stunning combinations of nature, not to mention the incredible
panoramic views.
The park has
13 signposted trails in total, and among the main attractions that
we will find, we can point out the Llaima volcano, Green lagoons, Arco
Iris, Captrén and Quepe, Lake Conguillío,
this lake located at the foot of Sierra Nevada
and framed with abundant native vegetation, large araucarias, forests ofCoigüe, Lenga, Cypress.
We will also find
like inside the park theSalto Trout is cute and
Truful-Truful Falls, Sierra Nevada,
Cerro La Cruz and ski center Llaima Volcano.
The entire area is
inserted where the original Pehuenche ethnic group lived,
which is reflected both in the objects found and by the numerous
indigenous names of places and geographical features of importance.
Six are identified
main hiking trails, and we will visit them all during the
route. “Sierra Nevada“ with
excellent views along the way of Lake Conguillío, the Llaima volcano and
of glaciers. “Los Carpinteros” between
Araucaria and Lenga forests. You access
the Captrén Lagoon, rich in birdlife.
We will also visit “Las Araucarias”, “Las Vertientes”, with 800 meters of extension, along the way
They cross a series of water courses that originate underground. Other
path will be the “Truful-Truful Canyon”,
which reveals the interesting geological history of the area and “Cerro Colorado”, passes through the western slope of the Llama Volcano, you can see the central valley and the
slags.
During our
adventure we will find some point with the best view to enjoy a
exquisite box lunch, so we replenish
energy to continue to our next stop.
On the road
We will find different samples oflocal fauna
and endemic, such as the puma, the guiña, the
black woodpecker, brown-striped lizard, Darwin`s frog and water turtle
dulce and the little monkey of the mountain, the smallest marsupial in the world, the condor, the harrier
and various aquatic birds that can be seen from its lagoons.
Also during the trek
we will be able to appreciate the different flows oflava
of the Llaima Volcano, which extends to
about 3,125 meters above sea level. It is one of the most impressive points for everyone since
we will find in the place lava base conformations hardly seen in
another part of the world.
After our day
full of adventures during our exploration in the National Park
Conguillío, we will return to our starting point.
