The experience begins at the meeting point, where a local interpreter guide will welcome participants, begin sharing details of the tour, and share some of the stories and beliefs that make this night out in Purmamarca unique.
The tour begins in front of the town`s church , an emblematic place where you will learn about the Quebradeño cultural identity, formed by more than 10,000 years of occupation processes that culminate in the present. Here, participants will hear about the union of the Andean Worldview and the Catholic faith, discovering how these traditions intertwine and shape the cultural life of the region.
Then, the group will approach the cemetery, located high in the landscape. This peculiar space, with its vibrant colors, invites reflection on its importance and symbolism. It will explain how the ancestors are celebrated and how these claims are reaffirmed every November, relating these rituals with the archaeological discoveries that link the past with the present.
Throughout the tour, the relationship of the inhabitants with nature and the land is explored in depth, without performing ceremonies in order to maintain cultural respect. However, the guide will talk about the meaning of asking the land for permission before starting a trail and about the Apachetas, rock constructions on the hills that represent gratitude and spiritual connection.
The outing culminates with a reflection on the folklore, the Andean Worldview and the intangible heritage that defines Purmamarca.
