In El Calafate, we begin our adventure by picking up guests at their centrally located hotels.
Our first destination is Punta Walichu, an archaeological site located 8 km from the town. Here, visitors will be able to appreciate the footprints of the first men who inhabited these lands, through a walk along eaves and caves with cave paintings (both originals and reproductions). In addition, you can enjoy an exceptional view of Lake Argentino and the Andes Mountains.
We continue the tour through the main streets of the old town of El Calafate, observing the pioneer buildings and the buildings of the current civic center. Our expert guide will tell us the story of the first settlers and describe the flora, fauna and other interesting details of this small tourist town.
Next, we visit the Coastal Walkway and Redonda Bay, located just a few meters from the coast of Lake Argentino, where you can observe the abundant local birdlife.
Next, we head to the Historical Interpretation Center, where we take a self-guided tour that covers everything from the glaciations to the present. Here you can also see reproductions of dinosaurs that populated the area, making the place one of the main paleontological museums in Patagonia.
Finally, our adventure culminates in La Chacra Las Moras, a place dedicated to the production of fine fruits and vegetables that surprises visitors with its crops.
After this afternoon of visiting the city of El Calafate, we return to the central hotels.
