Our activity begins very early in the morning: from 05:30 am We will pick you up in 4X4 vehicles at your accommodation located within Riohacha. Make sure you bring a reusable bottle with you to refill water, sunscreen, and comfortable clothing for the trip.
We will leave Riohacha in the direction ofLas Salinas de Manaure. The route will be towards the northern part of the region and will take approximately 1 hour. Upon arriving at Las Salinas de Manaure, you will be greeted by a community guide, who will accompany you on the tour of the salt extraction ponds. There, you will learn about the artisanal process of collecting salt and its importance for the community.
Around 09:00 AM we will advance towards
Uribia, the indigenous capital of Colombia. For an hour you will experience the
hospitality of the Wayúu community up close, you will learn about some of their traditions and you will understand the importance of family and community as the core of life.
You will visit the Uribia market, where the
bright colors of Wayúu crafts and backpacks contrast with the natural color palette of the desert, creating a unique visual scenario. div>
At 10:00 AM we will board the 4X4 again and leave for the Cabo de la Vela . The trip will last approximately 2 hours. You can take the opportunity to escape the intense rays of the sun for a while while enjoying the beautiful landscapes of La Guajira along the way.
We begin the visit to Cabo de la Vela, exploring the Ojo de Agua, a lagoon natural in the middle of the desert. This oasis is a place of amazing contrast and serenity, where the sweet, fresh and crystalline waters emerge from the arid land, creating a magical corner of calm. There you will enjoy a moment of tranquility surrounded by a unique environment.
We will continue towards the Faro, the highest point in Cabo de la Vela. This imposing icon stands as a silent witness to the vastness of the ocean and the immensity of the sky, capturing the very essence of the connection between land and the cosmos. The Lighthouse is an architectural structure that has guided sailors and explorers over the years and is home to countless legends and an atmosphere that will invite you to meditation and relaxation. silence, while you get stunning panoramic views of the sea and the desert.
Approximately at 01 PM we will pause to enjoy a well-deserved rest and a delicious typical lunch in one of the local restaurants. The food is prepared by members of the Wayúu community so you will not only taste the delicious regional cuisine but you will also be able to learn a little more about the local culture.
After the break we will begin a short 15-minute walk to ascend towards Pilón de Azúcar. This is a sacred place for the Wayúu community and a symbol of connection with spirituality and ancestral land. The walk offers an enriching experience and spectacular views. Reaching the summit of Pilón de Azúcar is a reward in itself. From this elevated perspective, the landscape of Cabo de la Vela unfolds before your eyes. The golden dunes, the Caribbean Sea and the vastness of the desert will surround you.
When you descend from the Pilón de Azúcar you will be able to rest on Playa Dorada and refresh yourself with a well-deserved swim in the Caribbean Sea.
At around 03:30 PM we will begin the return to Riohacha. The return trip will take approximately 3 hours. Rest, relax and take the opportunity to relive the moments of the day.
The activity ends with the drop off to your accommodation in Riohacha.
