After
picking you up from your hotel in the city
of Lima, we will start an incredible experience visiting archaeological
sites located within the city.
Our first
destination is the iconic Huaca Pucllana, located in the heart of Miraflores. There, you will be
amazed by the imposing truncated adobe pyramid, which rises majestically to a height of 25 meters.
Explore the enigmatic courtyards and squares of this archaeological complex
while awakening your imagination with each step you take. Additionally, let
yourself be captivated by the intriguing exhibition hall that will reveal
well-guarded secrets.
The Huaca Pucllana archaeological site has
its roots in the Lima culture, an ancient civilization that
flourished on the central coast of Peru between 200 and
700 A.D. This archaeological structure was built as a ceremonial and
administrative center, and its importance lies in being a tangible legacy of
the pre-Columbian history of the region.
It was
discovered in the 1980s during urbanization works in the city of Lima. Since
then, excavation and restoration efforts have been carried out to preserve this
important archaeological site.
After this
cultural immersion, we will move to
the Mateo Salado archaeological complex, located in the picturesque district of Pueblo Libre. This
archaeological gem occupies a prominent place in the history of Lima, thanks to
its connection with the legendary Qhapaq
Ñan, also known as the Inca Trail that connected the entire
Empire.
This ancient
structure, approximately 1,400 years old, was built by the ancient Lima people
during the Middle Horizon period, between 600 and 900 A.D.
Discover the
origins of Mateo Salado as an
administrative-ceremonial center of the Ychsma culture, and be amazed to learn
that the Incas, with their ingenuity, reused it to connect this huaca with the
iconic Pachacamac, south of Lima.
The Mateo Salado complex consists of a
truncated pyramid and a ceremonial plaza, surrounded by various auxiliary
structures. Archaeologists have discovered that the main pyramid was covered in
adobe and adorned with reliefs and mural paintings depicting human figures,
animals, and deities related to Lima mythology.
To conclude
this journey through time, we will transport you back to your hotel, ensuring
that your experience is unforgettable from beginning to end.
