We will begin our bike tour at the
meeting point located in the district of
Miraflores. We`ll start this biking adventure by riding through the streets
of this tourist-friendly neighborhood until we reach the archaeological center of La Huaca Pucllana (closed on Tuesdays and
Thursdays).
Built between 200 and 700 AD, this
architectural complex was constructed by the Lima culture, one of the pre-Inca civilizations of the central
coast of Peru. The huaca consists of a large adobe pyramid, which reaches a
height of 25 meters, surrounded by courtyards, plazas, and other ceremonial and
administrative structures.
If you take the tour on Tuesday or
Thursday, you will visit the Huaca Huallamarca,
an archaeological site located in the district
of San Isidro. It is a stepped pyramid that was built and used by various
pre-Hispanic cultures over several centuries. Initially, the structure belonged
to the Lima culture. Later, it was occupied and modified by the Wari culture
and later by the Incas.
The huaca is mainly made of adobes,
large mud bricks, and has been restored several times to preserve its structure
and make it accessible to the public. Inside, burials, offerings, and various
ceramic and textile objects have been found, indicating its ceremonial and
funerary use.
We will continue the bike tour
through the beautiful parks of these two districts until we reach the Malecón of Miraflores, where we can
ride with incredible views of the Pacific Ocean.
We will visit the Surquillo market, one of the most
popular and busiest traditional markets in the city. This place is known for
its wide variety of fresh products, including fruits, vegetables, meats, fish,
seafood, and a large variety of local food products. You can enjoy a delicious natural fruit juice.
We will take a break with a
delicious coffee overlooking the sea. At the end, we will return to the meeting
point.
