Arrival at
Cusco
DAY 1. We will pick you up from the airport or bus station in Cusco city, and we will transfer you to your hotel located in the city center. Rest of the day
free, for good acclimatization to the altitude. Overnight at hotel.
City Tour Cusco and 4 nearby ruins
DAY 2. Morning at leisure. We’ll pick you up from the hotel, and start the tour visiting the Temple of the Sun well-known as Koricancha. This symbolic place has a clear example of the fusion between Incan and Hispanic cultures, and its base was used to build Santo Domingo’s Church and its famous convent.
Then, we’re going to visit the Cathedral located in the Main Square, to appreciate a beautiful religious paintings of the Cusco School. The Cusco City Tour continues in Sacsayhuaman, an amazing archaeological complex with huge carved stones which fit each other in a perfect way, and it is said that it was built by more than 20 thousand men, and took over 70 years to finish it.
Then we will visit Qenqo religious temple, place where the Incas worshiped their Gods like the Sun, the Moon and the Earth. You will have an incredible experience exploring through its underground galleries, and admire a semicircular amphitheater. We will continue this entertaining excursion in the military compound of Puca Pucara, which means “Red Fortress” for its reddish infrastructure.
Then we will go the water’s worship center of Tambomachay, with aqueducts and waterfalls provided from nearby springs. At the end, we will drop you off at El Regocijo Square.
Sacred Valley of the Incas: Via
Ferrata + Canopy + box lunch
DAY 3. Breakfast at the hotel. This full day sacred valley tour begins early in the morning. We are going to pick you up from the hotel located in the city of Cusco to take the road towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This path connects the villages of Pisac and Ollantaytambo. After a travel of one hour and a half, we are going to reach our base situated at Pachar, 33 miles from the city.
At this point and after put on all the security equipment, we will start climbing up the Via Ferrata Sacred Valley, that consists of iron rungs anchored in the rocks. The other option is to walk along the zip line path.
After climbing the Via Ferrata course for an hour, you will reach a suspension bridge that will take you to the highest point of the tour to enjoy a box lunch.
Later, we will start to descend through the sacred valley zip line to add more adrenaline to this fantastic tour, where the largest one has a long of 700 meters and the short ones of 250 meters.
At the end of this fantastic experience, we will back to the base in Pachar and then take the bus to drop you off at your hotel in the city of Cusco.
Machu Picchu
DAY 4. Breakfast at the hotel. Early in the morning, a touristic bus will pick you up from the hotel in Cusco to go towards Ollantaytambo train station, and start a journey to Aguas Calientes train station. At this point, we will board the bus until the wonderful Machu Picchu Citadel, well-known as The Lost City of the Inca. The guided tour along 2 hours, will let you explore this awesome archeological site with incredible landscapes.
Machu Picchu, a World Heritage Site, was the main place of Inca’s farming, and the most important urban place from Incan Empire. Enjoy your free time in Machu Picchu, take pictures or if you are brave you can climb Huayna Picchu (optional), and admire the entire citadel around. Also, you have the option to back to Aguas Calientes and have lunch (optional).
At the arrange time, you should arrive at the Aguas Calientes train station to back to Cusco City, arriving to Ollantaytambo train station first and take a shared transport to your hotel in Cusco.
Cusco
DAY 5. Breakfast at the hotel. Free day for personal activities, and recover energies for Vinicunca. Overnight
in hotel.
Mountain of 7 colors - Vinicunca
DAY 6. Breakfast at the hotel. We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco. It is about a 3hrs ½ driving on our shared transport, journey through an undiscovered land of wild desert landscapes, snowcapped peaks, herds of alpaca. When we reach the trailhead for this hike, we are going to have a hot breakfast upon arrival and we will begin the hike from Chillihuani at 4200m/13,900 ft elevation.
From here, it will be a 4 hour approx. uphill hike to reach the famous Rainbow Mountains or Vinicunca. Along the way you will enjoy amazing views of the Andes, glacial peaks, red mountains, rocky hills, and traditional llamas and alpacas grazing along the valley. As you reach the summit of the mountain, you will be able to spot some Andean wildlife.
Vicuñas are considered to be the Andean camel and this is the only place in Cusco where you will see them in the wild. Vicuñas are in the same family as llamas, though are much smaller and they have the most expensive wool in the world. Once we arrive at the top of what we come to see the Rainbow Mountain, you will have enough time to take photos and relax yourself on the top majesty area views. All of the mountains that surround this area are red and there are amazing views of the valleys and Ausangate Glacier Peak right in front of you. Ausangate is the tallest mountain of the Cusco region (just under 21,000 ft) and is part of the Cordillera Vilcanota Range.
While taking view of this magnificent, colorful mountain views our staff will bring you some hot drinks while sharing information with you about the composition of these incredible mountains and how they became striated in the rainbows of colors you are seeing. After taking a few amazing pictures and soaking in the views (perhaps we will even see a few condors around by) we will begin our descent with a 2-hour downhill hike. We will then meet up with our trekking chef and enjoy the delicious, freshly prepared hot lunch.
After lunch you can visit some of the local family’s houses where you can see their lifestyle of these people who still practice the ancient traditions of the Inkas. They still speak Quechua, practicing their earth-based religion and, the agriculture – honoring the mountain spirits and sun to insure that their crops and herds flourish – as well as weaving the textiles that you will find in the museums all around Peru.
Finally, after our interactions with the locals, we will start returning trip back to Chillihuani village to catch our shared transport back to Cusco, arriving around 6 pm approx., where we will drop you off at your hotel.
Departure from Cusco
DAY 7. Breakfast at the hotel. After a week full of adrenaline, we will pick you up from the hotel to transfer you to the bus station or airport in Cusco city.
