DAY 1
We will pick you up from the hotel located in the center of Arequipa city, and our
transportation will take the route through Cabrerías until we reach the
starting point of the ascent to the Misti
Volcano, located at 4,100 meters above sea level.
Marvel at the beautiful landscapes that the Arequipa valley offers us, surrounded
by imposing mountains and volcanoes. We will begin the ascent towards the Misti
Volcano with a 6-hour trek. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to
observe local fauna and flora, such as cacti and various bird species.
Additionally, we will enjoy a box lunch
during the hike.
The Misti Volcano is situated 20 kilometers northeast of Arequipa city, on the
banks of the Chili River, and rises
to 5,820 meters above sea level. Its name comes from the Quechua language,
meaning "white-skinned man." It is considered an active volcano and
is located within the Salinas and Aguada
Blanca National Reserve.
We will reach the Base Camp located at 4,800 meters above sea
level. Here, we will set up the camp and have a refreshing dinner.
DAY 2
On this day, we will start early, and after breakfast, we
will continue with the ascent to the volcano in a 6-hour hike. We will reach
the summit before noon, with breathtaking views of the volcano`s crater.
Admire the spectacular views of the Andes mountain range, as
well as the Chachani and Pichu Pichu
volcanoes, which are also visible from the city
of Arequipa. We will have time to take photos.
This volcano has experienced more than 10 volcanic eruptions
in recent years, with the last one being recorded in the 15th century during
the Inca period.
Afterward, we will begin the descent back to the Base Camp.
We will rest for a moment and then continue the hike for another 2 hours until
we reach our transportation, which will take us back to the city of Arequipa.
Upon arriving in the city, we will drop you off at your
hotel.
