We will begin our day at sunset, heading into the Elqui Valley. We will make a brief stop in the city of Vicuña, where the municipal offices are located to register our entry to the Mamalluca Amateur Observatory.
We will continue our journey to the Observatory northeast of the city, passing through the town of San Isidro. Here we will enjoy a pleasant evening where we can contemplate the stars in this very special place, open to the public, but intimate enough as it requires prior reservation.
Here we will have a talk about the Universe and the stars of the Southern Hemisphere, along with a slideshow to better understand what we are about to experience. Then comes the moment we`ve all been waiting for: a nighttime observation of stars, planets, and galaxies.
It will be a very special experience, as the Southern Hemisphere is particularly interesting astronomically, and most of the impressive observatories located in this area are not open to the public at night, making this a unique place in the region.
After enjoying two hours of observing the Universe, we will say goodbye to the facilities and begin our return to our hotels in La Serena or Coquimbo.
