The best time to visit Coquimbo is during spring and summer, from October to March. During these months, the weather is warm and pleasant, ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities. In addition, numerous festivals and cultural events are held during this season, making the region more vibrant and attractive for tourists.
When visiting Coquimbo, you cannot miss the Cruz del Tercer Milenio, an impressive monument with panoramic views of the city. Also not to be missed is the Barrio Inglés, known for its classic architecture and vibrant nightlife. In addition, La Herradura Beach is ideal for relaxing and enjoying the sea. Finally, a visit to the Pinguino de Humboldt National Reserve will allow you to observe the local marine fauna.
The climate in Coquimbo is semi-arid, with pleasant temperatures for most of the year. In summer, temperatures range between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius, ideal for enjoying the beach. In winter, temperatures are cooler, between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius, but still very pleasant for outdoor activities. The region receives little rain, making it an attractive destination all year round.

To get to Coquimbo from Santiago, you have several options. You can take a flight from Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport to La Florida Airport in La Serena, which is just a 10-minute drive from Coquimbo. Another option is to travel by bus, with several transport companies offering daily and comfortable services, and the journey takes approximately 6 hours. If you prefer to drive, the road trip takes around 5 and a half hours, following Route 5 North.
