Experience a day of technical adventure and wild landscapes at the End of the World. Below, we detail the route of this high-mountain trekking in Ushuaia:
Start at Tierra Mayor Valley
We begin with the pick-up from selected hotels to transfer to the starting point in the Tierra Mayor Valley. The first stretch takes us through native forests and peat bogs, typical of Tierra del Fuego`s geography. After approximately an hour of walking, we reach the famous Emerald Lagoon, where we take a short break to rest and enjoy its unique color.
Technical Ascent through the Andes Mountains
After skirting the lagoon, the real adventure begins: the ascent through rocky terrain (scree). This is the most demanding stage of the trek:
Intensity: A steady climb of about 3 hours.
Landscape: We leave the vegetation behind to surround ourselves with the imposing peaks of the Andes Mountains.
Safety: We cross orange-hued rock walls to a natural balcony with panoramic views of Emerald Lagoon.
In the final climbing section, depending on the season and terrain, hands may be needed to advance. The use of a helmet and technical gear is mandatory, and our specialized guides supervise every step to ensure a safe experience.
Arrival at the Glacier and Mountain Lunch
After about 4.5 hours of effort, the reward is unmatched: the Ojo del Albino Glacier.
The Setting: An impressive 20-meter high front wall and a green meltwater lagoon.
Winter Season: The lagoon freezes and is covered in snow, allowing you to walk to the very base of the glacier.
In this unique natural environment, we share a mountain lunch, recover energy, and enjoy the peace of the summit before heading back along the same trail.
