Details of Day Tours

The day before the activity, we will have to go to a meeting point, where we will do the equipment test and we will be given a pre-talk where they will tell us what we have to bring.

On the day of the trip, around 10 in the morning the guide will pick us up from our accommodation and take us to the exit of the activity area. Before starting, the guide will give us an instructional talk and recommendations on the terrain we are going to ski.

We will begin to ascend through the hidden valley, which is one of the most beautiful places in San Martín los Andes, reaching 1,700 meters above sea level. We will travel different routes, passing through several descents and slopes. We will travel through open areas, steppes, frozen lakes, and dense forests

We will make several technical stops to hydrate and eat something energetic to continue skiing.

During the journey we will have incredible views of the Lanin Volcano, the Lacar Valley , and countless snowy peaks and ravines.

We will end our day of skiing enjoying a snack overlooking the town of San Martín de los Andes. Then, we will leave our ski equipment with the guide and around 4:00 pm a shuttle will take us back to our accommodation.

The downhill technique is the same as in alpine or traditional skiing (we`ll use the wedge, the parallel, and the same body positions), however, we`ll use skis that have some special additional features.

To move uphill, we`ll have to walk using skis with special bindings that free the heel. The bottom of the skis is a synthetic skin (called sealskin) with artificial tips that allow forward movement but prevent the ski from sliding backward.
