The day before the experience we will be given an instructive talk, where we will confirm the time we have to meet or what time we will be picked up at our accommodation.
We will have the possibility to choose between two options according to our taste and preference:
- Option 1: Lake Lacar and Islita.
Duration of 4 hours.
It has departures both in the morning and in the afternoon.
We meet at the pier in San Martin de los Andes, where our guide will be waiting for us to give us our equipment, a talk about how to paddle and what are the safety measures.
In the first part of our tour we will navigate Lake Lacar inside the bay that bathes the coast of San Martin de los Andes and then venture out into the open lake. We will skirt the north side of the lake following the line of the gigantic granite walls. The clear waters will give us the opportunity to see trout, algae, and even sunken trees.
We will reach beaches that cannot be reached by any other means than sailing. If the weather and the temperature allow it, we can dive into the lake of transparent waters.
We will sail for about 5 kilometres until we reach "La Islita", a private beach where we will stop to share a snack and have enough time to enjoy the silence of the place and rest.
After 4 hours of sailing, we will arrive at the shores of San Martin de Los Andes where we will leave the equipment and end the excursion.
- Option 2: Machonico Channel with the Pichi Machonico Lake
Duration of 5 hours.
There are morning and afternoon departures.
A shuttle will pick us up from our accommodation and we will travel for about 30 minutes along National Route 40 until we reach Lake Machonico, which is located on the famous Seven Lakes Route.
Once there, our guide will give us our equipment and a talk explaining how to paddle and what the safety measures are.
We will start the navigation crossing the lake to reach the mouth of the Machonico Channel. During the half an hour it will take us to get out of the other end we will be able to enjoy an incredible contact with the Andean Forest, we will see a totally unique scenery of absolutely transparent and emerald waters.
At the end of this channel, we will arrive at Lake Pichi Machonico. A small lake immersed in a forest surrounded by the mountains with waterfalls and caves that form the centre of the Andes Mountains. We will enjoy the deep silence and the smell of nature.
We will stop at this lake for a snack, enjoy the place and recharge our batteries for the return trip.
After 5 hours of navigation, we will arrive at the shores of Lake Machonico where our transport will be waiting to drop us off at our accommodation.
