Restaurant:
The downstairs or first floor of the Castillo, the original stables of the place, is the exceptional frame of a baroque dining room with evokes the best of Salta: history, solidity, austerity, elegance and good taste.
The food is faithful to the local tradition,
with its regional specialties while rendering homage to the European origins of the original owners of the house, always respecting ancestral culinary traditions.
The bread is legendary and home-made. The dishes are often original to the Castillo and worthy of the table of the castle; the “King of the Castillo”, for example, is a great filet mignon stuffed with goat cheese of the area.
Location:
The Castillo is located in the high part of the village, at the entrance of Quebrada (“gorge”), title of a famous Zamba (type of folk music) of the Chalchaleros, the most famous group of Argentina.
The Quebrada is a municipal natural reserve which represents the terrain of the “yungas” or “Selva Montana” (“mountain forest”), a type of cloud forest unique in Argentina for its wide variety of trees, ferns and musk.
The main avenue of San Lorenzo leads to the town of Vaqueros and the spectacular “cornice road”, the most picturesque route connecting Salta to the city of San Salvador de Jujuy.
