Lake Menéndez, of glacial origin, is surrounded by high mountains and beautiful landscapes of lenga, fagaceae and long-lived larch forests. The The view from the boat will be perfect to capture with our cameras.

After 45 minutes of navigation we will arrive at our first stop, the base of Cerro Torrecillas , where we will stop to contemplate the Torrecillas Glacier from the catamaran, one of the great secrets that Los Alerces National Park keeps. The Glacier that formed on the mountain has a whitish and resplendent upper part, flooded with ice and a lower part loaded with sediments that end up being dumped into the Laguna del Antiguo, which with its intense emerald color will allow us to appreciate the basins that gave rise to glacial ice more than 24 thousand years ago.

We will advance on our journey through Lake Menéndez enjoying the great mountain ranges, with their high peaks crowned with eternal snow, until we reach Puerto Sagrario, located at the end of the northern arm of the lake. In this port we will disembark to begin a quiet trek of approximately 2 km inside the Valdivian jungle, the guided tour will allow us to learn about the history of the incredible species that confirm the jungle, we will pass through the Swan Lake viewpoint where we will not only enjoy the view but the sound of the woodpeckers that accompany our walk.

The trail culminates with the meeting of “grandfather”, a larch that is more than 2,600 years old, without a doubt the most outstanding exponent of the Park since it constitutes one of the oldest living species on the planet with a height that exceeds 55 meters and an imposing trunk more than 2 meters in diameter. We will enjoy free time to explore the area, learn more details about the flora and fauna and capture the best memories.

We will return to the boat along the same path, closing our 5-hour day in Puerto Chucao where the services will end. You can contact us for extra transfer service from/to Puerto Chucao.
