The “Loma del Diablo” is a unique and wild trekking.

Thanks to its mid-mountain location, the road to La Loma del Diablo hill is very little known and frequented, allowing direct contact with wild Patagonia and facilitating access to all levels of hikers and skiers who are encouraged to explore its snowy terrain, without glacier. 

From the Laguna Cóndor Refuge, located 17 km from El Chaltén, the route will begin by gaining altitude through a quiet path surrounded by a lush lengas forest. and that ends in a rocky terrain that will take us to the top along the edge of the mountain.

At a height of 1200 meters above sea level we will enjoy the impressive panoramic view that covers the Pirque sector, Purgatorio Hill, Blanco Hill and a perspective of the metropolitan Andes that goes from La Paloma Hill to Castillo Hill.

Details of Day Tours


The tour starts around 08:00 am with the pick up by your hotel located in the central area of El Chaltén. We leave the town to travel 17 km by car to the Laguna Cóndor Refuge. 

Once at the refuge we will begin the trek through a beautiful Lengas forest that will show us the way as we gain height. At the end of the forest, after an hour of travel, we will find a large rocky terrain through which we can also ascend the San Roque hill. We will choose the route to Loma del Diablo, which consists of continuing along the edge of the range that extends between the Maipo River and the Clarillo River and that without a marked path will take us to the top along the entire edge of the mountain, the ascent is of low difficulty, La Loma del Diablo is characterized by its wide faces and corridors of different inclinations, making the route a place for all levels. 

After two hours of climbing we will reach the summit at 1200 meters above sea level, we will take time to rest to enjoy lunch while we contemplate the wonderful panoramic views that the summit offers us, in the northwest sector we will find Purgatorio Hill, towards the west thel Cerro Blanco and we will also be able to see a wide sector of the different metropolitan Andes, which covers from Cerro la Paloma to the Castillo hill.

Around 2 p.m. we will begin the descent through the same sector of the mountain to Refugio Laguna Cóndor, where we will make alast break after 7 hours and approximately 20 km of trekking , where we can enjoy a snack and a hot drink. 

The tour ends with drop off at your hotel at approximately 5:00 p.m.
