The walking tour begins at our offices located in the heart of San Telmo , one of Buenos Aires` oldest and most traditional neighborhoods, renowned for its bohemian atmosphere, history, and strong tango identity. We`ll stroll along the iconic Defensa Street to discover antique markets, historic buildings, original cobblestones, and classic lampposts that preserve the spirit of the colonial city.
We will continue towards the traditional Lezama Park , a historic green space surrounded by groves, an amphitheater and natural viewpoints that connect historic Buenos Aires with the more modern part of the city.
Next, we`ll head to Puerto Madero , Buenos Aires` most modern and exclusive neighborhood, famous for its skyscrapers, top-notch restaurants, and renovated waterfront. There, we`ll explore its docks and arrive at the iconic Puente de la Mujer (Women`s Bridge ), designed by renowned architect Santiago Calatrava and now one of the city`s most recognizable architectural landmarks.
The walking tour continues to the historic Plaza de Mayo , the site of some of Argentina`s most important political and social events. Here, we`ll see the Casa Rosada ( the presidential palace), the historic Cabildo (city hall), and the Metropolitan Cathedral , while the guide shares stories about Buenos Aires` history and culture.
From there, we`ll walk along Diagonal Norte until we reach the famous Obelisk of Buenos Aires , located on Avenida 9 de Julio, considered one of the widest avenues in the world. Finally, we`ll arrive at the majestic Teatro Colón , internationally renowned for its acoustics, architecture, and artistic history, and considered one of the most important opera houses in the world.
