Day 1 PISCACUCHO
(Km.82)–HUAYLLABAMBA: Pick you up from your hotel 06:00 am to travel by bus
to Piskacucho. There will be a stop in Ollantaytambo to have a little rest. Our
adventure begins upon arrival at kilometre 82.
We will ascend along a parallel road
to Urubamba River until reach Miskay, a lovely small town where you will try
the popular drink known as Chicha, which is offered by the ladies. As you
continue ascending, you will have views of Patallacta, an Incan building
located at the foot of the mountain.
Walking for 2 hours along Cusichaca River,
we will arrive to a beautiful spot to rest and enjoy a lunch. After the break, we
will continue walking through a zone full of vegetation until our first camping
in Wayllabamba. You will be able to admire the amazing Andean landscapes, as
well as the majesty of Veronica Mountain. Distance traveled: 12 Km – Approximate
time of walk: 5 to 6 hours.
Day 2 HUAYLLABAMBA –
PACAYMAYU: After waking up at 06:00 am and having breakfast, we will
start a steep ascent where you will climb several steps through a spectacular
jungle, until reach Llulluchapampa to take a short rest, and then continuing
climbing to the highest point of our walk through the Abra de Warrmihuañusca or
Dead Woman's Pass.
This place is considered one of the most beautiful
landscapes of the world. Later, after the ascent, we will set out on the descend
to have lunch. After lunch, we will get our camping in Pacaymayo to spend the
night. Distance traveled: 9 Km – Approximate time of walk: 6 to 7 hours.
Day 3 PACAYMAYU – WIÑAYWAYNA: This
day will be unforgettable. We wake up for breakfast at 6 am, to then start a
light climb to visit the archaeological site of Runkurakay, that is believed it
has been a control tower.
Along the way, you’ll see amazing vegetation, birds
and lagoons. We will descend until we reach Sayacmarka ruins, to continue to Puyupatamarka,
an awesome archaeological complex with a complete engineer water system.
will arrive to Wiñay Wayna, wich means “Forever Young”, considered one of the
most beautiful ruins after Machu Picchu. Our camping is located a within
walking distance. Distance traveled: 14 Km – Approximate time of walk: 7 to 8
– MACHUPICCHU: Wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. Then,
depart from the campsite around 5:30 am to head towards Machu Picchu. We
will reach "Inti Punku" before sunrise to see the wonderful Inca
Then, you will enjoy a 2-hour guided walking tour, after which you can
explore the city on your own. After touring the area, we will get on a train
back to Poroy train station, and from there, travel to Cusco by bus. Distance
traveled: 7 Km – Approximate time of walk: 3 to 4 hours.
