We will begin by picking up passengers from selected hotels in Iquique between 9:30 and 10:00 AM to start our tour of the city.
Our first stop will be Huayquique Beach, from where we`ll continue to the Cavancha Peninsula and the Grotto of Lourdes Church. Then we`ll take a scenic tour along the coast until we reach Plaza 21 de Mayo and the Arturo Prat monument.
We will then head to the historic center of Iquique, where we will take a walk along the traditional Paseo Baquedano . Here we can appreciate its characteristic Oregon pine wood buildings and Georgian-influenced architecture, a legacy of the nitrate industry`s heyday.
We will continue towards Prat Square and its emblematic Clock Tower , built in 1877, to also see the facade of the Municipal Theater and the old Customs House.
The tour will continue along the exterior of the replica of the Esmeralda Corvette, where we will have time for photographs, before visiting Caleta Riquelme and heading to the Prat Pier.
From there we will begin a navigation through the bay of Iquique, passing by the fishing boat sector, the port and an islet inhabited by sea lions until we reach the historic Esmeralda Buoy, the place that marks the point where the Esmeralda Corvette sank during the Naval Battle of Iquique on May 21, 1879.
During the navigation, the guide will tell us the story and the main events related to this important episode in the history of Chile.
At the end, you can choose to return to the hotel or continue towards ZOFRI to enjoy free time for shopping.
