We will pick you up at your hotel at approximately 9:00 a.m., and we will begin our journey to the border city of Tacna, with a free trade zone and an attractive market selling beautiful llama and alpaca woven crafts.
We will assist you with customs procedures, so please bring your documentation with you and be up-to-date. We will make a brief stop at Chacalluta Border Control (Chilean Customs), and then we will stop at the Concordia line, in front of the Cristo de la Paz. Finally, we will make another brief stop at Santa Rosa Border Control (Peruvian Customs).
City of Tacna and explore the main avenues, Bolognesi and San Martín. We will continue to the Almirante Grau and Coronel Bolognesi monuments. We will also visit the Tacna Cathedral, a work by architect Gustavo Eiffel. We will have time to take a shopping tour at fairs selling products from the free trade zone. We will also enjoy a delicious lunch, try some typical Peruvian food (at the passenger`s expense).
After lunch, we will visit the Petroglyphs and Miculla Suspension Bridge. The interpretation of the Miculla petroglyphs reflects a magical-religious initiative linked to acts of prayer for water and fertility, taking into consideration the high animistic and utilitarian meaning that Andean people attach to the elements of nature and the cosmos.
Additionally, there are mounds and ceremonial
chacras, irrigation canals, internal and external transit roads, tombs, hieroglyphics, stone structures, huacas, and apachetas. There is also a museum with a collection of these stone carvingsthat we will explore. After this beautiful day, full of culture, history, and beauty, we will return to the city of departure, passing through border controls on the way back.
This adventure to Tacna is an excellent way to explore the city and its surroundings in a short period of time, gaining an overview of the rich culture and history of this Peruvian region, so close to Chile.
