Experience with the Sateré Mawé Tribe – Ritual of the Tucandeira Ants
Live an authentic cultural experience in the Amazon by visiting the traditional Sateré Mawé tribe , one of the best-known indigenous communities in the Amazon region.
The tour begins with departure from Manaus at 9:00 AM by land transport to the Ariau region. From there, we will continue our journey by boat for approximately 45 minutes until we reach the indigenous community of Sateré Mawé.
Upon arrival, around midday, visitors will enjoy a typical indigenous lunch, prepared with traditional ingredients from the Amazon rainforest. During the visit, members of the tribe will share knowledge about their culture and the so-called "pharmacy of the jungle," explaining the medicinal uses of leaves, plants, and tree bark used in Amazonian natural medicine.
One of the most impressive moments of the experience is the presentation of the famous tucandeira ant ritual , an ancient tradition of the Sateré Mawé people. During the ritual, visitors can observe the ceremony, learn about its cultural significance, and have the opportunity to take photographs and participate in cultural activities alongside the community.
At the end of this fascinating cultural experience in the Amazon, we will begin the return journey to Manaus.
