Manaus City Tour – Amazonas Theater, Museum of the Indian and Historic Center
Discover the main cultural and historical attractions of Manaus on this comprehensive city tour of Manaus, the capital of the Amazon .
The tour begins with pick-up from selected hotels and a transfer of approximately 18 km along Ponta Negra Avenue to downtown Manaus . The first stop will be at the traditional Port of Manaus , one of the city`s most iconic landmarks, located on the banks of the Rio Negro .
Next, we will make a brief panoramic stop in front of the historic Rio Negro Palace , former residence of the governor and current cultural headquarters of the Government of the State of Amazonas .
The tour continues with a visit to the Museum of the Indian , run by the Salesian Congregation. This museum is one of the best places to learn about the indigenous culture of the Amazon and the traditions of its peoples . Its collection comprises more than four thousand pieces, including household items, musical instruments, ornaments, and weapons used by various tribes in the region.
We will continue our tour with an external visit to the Palace of Justice of Amazonas , an elegant historic building constructed during the rubber boom and inspired by French and neoclassical architecture. It currently serves as a major cultural center in Manaus .
The highlight of the tour is the guided visit inside the famous Amazonas Theater , inaugurated in 1896 and considered one of Manaus `s most important symbols. This impressive theater reflects the wealth and splendor of the rubber boom era in the Amazon and is one of Manaus`s most visited tourist attractions .
