The adventure to the Vinciguerra Glacier begins early in the morning, when transportation picks up participants at their accommodations in Ushuaia. From there, we head toward the Andorra Valley, the starting point of our journey.
At 9:00 am, we set off on the trail that will take us through a variety of landscapes. We begin by crossing peat bogs and rivers formed by melting ice, as we enter lush subantarctic forests of lengas and ñires.
As we advance, the terrain becomes steeper. Around noon, we arrive at the Laguna de los Témpanos, located at the foot of the Vinciguerra Glacier. The crystal-clear waters of the lagoon reflect the ice formations, a visual spectacle.
After a break to enjoy lunch and recharge our batteries, we prepare for the experience of walking on the glacier. Equipped with crampons and helmets provided by the guides, we will walk on the frozen surface, exploring sinkholes and ice formations. It is a unique opportunity to see the dynamics of moving ice up close.
After this unforgettable experience, we begin the descent, retracing our steps while we have the last panoramic views of the mountain range and the surrounding valleys.
Finally, we conclude our expedition, returning to the central hotels in Ushuaia.
