The hike begins at the entrance bridge to La Cumbrecita, crossing the charming Historic Center before taking the trail that ascends to Cerro Wank. The walk, at a steady pace, overcomes a gradient of 260 meters to reach the summit, located 1,620 meters above sea level. From there, the panoramic views announce the beginning of a different journey.
Descending north, the path enters the immensity of the Pampa de Achala. Between open plains, high-altitude streams, and profound silence, the journey reveals the strength and serenity of the mountains. The landscape, changing with the light and weather, accompanies each step with new natural panoramas.
After several hours of hiking, Paso de Garay appears, a small mountain village now uninhabited. Its old church, the arch with a bell, the small school, and the dispensary evoke times gone by, while the scattered ruins tell stories of an isolated mountain life.
In this unique setting, rest and exploration combine with an outdoor lunch, surrounded by nature and tranquility. The day culminates with the return to La Cumbrecita along the same trail, completing an authentic experience deeply connected to the history and spirit of the Córdoba mountains.
