We begin our adventure at 07:00 AM, leaving from San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca.
We start by visiting the iconic place of La Cuesta del Portezuelo. This road extends for almost 20 km and has more than 300 curves. Its fame comes not only from the poem made into a song, but also from the impressive views it offers, which inspired the verses of Paisajes de Catamarca.
We reach the summit of Cerro Ancasti and continue our journey to the town that bears its name. There we take a walk to the archaeological site La Tunita.
This place is made up of caves and eaves formed by erosive processes. The ancient inhabitants took advantage of these geoforms to capture their pictographic representations, using resources such as plaster, lime and plant substances.
The figures are varied, with the presence of animals standing out. These cave paintings have been attributed to the El Aguada culture, which could be up to 1,300 years old.
Throughout the tour, we make permanent photo stops to capture the incredible scenery. Finally, we return to San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, thus concluding our entire trip.
