We will pick you up from your hotel in the city of Huaraz and head to the picturesque district of Marcará. From there, we will take a detour eastward,
passing through the charming farming community of Vicos.
As we move through the majestic Paqcharuri
Valley, you’ll be surrounded by impressive forests of native plants such as nettles, puca puca, shilco, and others. After
an hour and a half drive along the road, we’ll reach the starting point of the
trek.
You’ll enjoy a one-hour (2 km)
hike through magical landscapes until we arrive at the Frozen Lagoon of Rocutuyoc, where you’ll feel the power of nature
with every step. This lagoon is known for the turquoise color of its waters.
You’ll have panoramic views of the majestic snow-capped peaks of Paccharaju, Bayoraju, Copa, and Akilpo, true
wonders of the Andean range.
This beautiful lagoon is located within Huascarán National Park and stretches 852 meters in length. The
tour also includes a visit to the impressive Paqcharuri waterfall and ancient
cave paintings, connecting you with the region`s millennia-old history.
After spending some time around the lagoon, we will begin the one-hour (2 km) return hike to reach
our transportation. To top off the experience, you can choose to enjoy a
delicious (optional) lunch at a local restaurant before returning to the city of Huaraz.
Upon arrival in Huaraz, we will drop you off near the city’s Plaza de Armas.
