Experience an unforgettable adventure exploring one of the most breathtaking lagoons in Peru: the magical Paron Lake, located at 4,170 meters above sea level in the heart of Huascarán National Park.
After picking you up from your hotel in the city of Huaraz (optional service), we’ll begin a fascinating two-hour journey by land, passing through stunning Andean landscapes and charming traditional villages. Along the way, we’ll stop in the town of Caraz, where you’ll have the option to enjoy breakfast at a local restaurant before continuing the trip.
The route continues along a scenic mountain road for another hour and a half until we reach the base camp of Paron Lake. From there, it’s just a short 15-minute walk to reach this breathtaking turquoise lake, the largest lagoon in the Cordillera Blanca and a designated Cultural Heritage Site of Peru since 2010.
Surrounded by majestic snow-capped peaks such as Pirámide, Chacraraju, Huandoy, Pisco, and Artesonraju, the latter famously known for inspiring the Paramount Pictures logo, the lagoon offers an awe-inspiring natural spectacle.
For the more adventurous, there is an optional one-hour hike up to a natural viewpoint. The trail is steep and zigzagging, but the reward is well worth the effort: a panoramic view of the lagoon and the towering white peaks that frame it.
Throughout the journey, you’ll also witness the region’s native flora, including ferns, orchids, and bromeliads that add vibrant color to the landscape. Additionally, we’ll pass by the historic town of Yungay, whose tragic past marked by the 1970 earthquake remains a powerful part of the Andean legacy.
After exploring this magical corner of the Andes, we’ll begin our return journey back to the city of Huaraz.
