Day 1 CUSCO - QUISHUARANI
(LARES)-CUNCANI-YANACOCHA: Before a delicious breakfast, we will pick you
up to go to Calca at the Sacred Valley. Once there, we have the last chance to
buy anything you think you might need.
We continue going to Quishuarani (3,700
m), and from this point we will hike through lovely Andean towns, with
beautiful alpacas and llamas around. With a gentle climb, we are going to
arrive to Queuña Cocha Lake, place with amazing mountain views, and find a
small but a pronounced climb, to the lunch spot.
After recovering energy, we
are going still walking downhill to Cuncani Community, but then, we have to ascent
to Qolqecasa for 2 hours. Hiking around wonderful lakes and waterfalls, we will
reach Yanacocha to spend the night in our campsite. Dinner and overnight.
Distance
traveled: 14 Km – Approximate time of walk: 6 to 7 hours.
Day 2 YANACOCHA-WAKAWASI-MANTANAY: After a warm breakfast, the trek
will start to go to Chaqchapata (3,950 msnm), an amazing place with traditional
people with Andean customs, and llamas and alpacas all over around. We will
climb around 1:30 hours to our lunch spot called “Hierba Esponjosa”.
After a well-deserved
rest, we will continue to go up for 1:30 hours to the highest point Auroracasa
(4,600 msnm). Enjoy and admire the incredible landscapes! After hiking for 2
hours, we will reach our campsite.
Dinner and overnight. Distance traveled: 16
Km – Approximate time of walk: 7 to 8 hours.
Day 3 MANTANAY - YANAHUARA - AGUAS
CALIENTES: After breakfast, we will depart at 07:30 am to go downhill
around incredible mountains, with special views to Maras and Moray Salt Mines.
You’ll
feel how the weather changes, and you will have the opportunity to see
agricultural crops in corn, potatoes and vegetable. The tour takes about 4 hours;
after which it reaches the picturesque town of Yanahuara.
After a delicious lunch,
a bus will take you to Ollantaytambo train station, to board the train for 2
hours until Aguas Calientes.
Accommodation, transfer and dinner are not
included. Distance traveled: 12 Km – Approximate time of walk: 4 to 5 hours.
Day 4 AGUAS CALIENTES-MACHUPICCHU-OLLANTAYTAMBO:
Very early in the morning, we will take the tourist bus to the citadel
entrance, and we will finally be in one of the wonders of the world.
Machu
Picchu will be all yours (if you walk) because you will be the first to arrive
there; Even before the Inca trail of the trekers! Once there, if you are at the
right time, you will enjoy the sunrise and begin the guided tour of 2 hours,
where you will learn each secret, each story and each fact about the Inca
citadel.
We are going to visit Intiwatana, located on the top of Machu Picchu. After
that, you can decide whether to climb the Huayna Picchu mountain (optional). Around
1 pm most people are ready. And take the bus back (we all end up very tired) to
Aguas Calientes.
There you can have lunch in any of the good restaurants or
just relax waiting for the train and transport back to Cusco.
