Start of the adventure
The day begins at 9:00 a.m. at the bridge to the town of La Cumbrecita, where we meet with the licensed guide and the rest of the group. After a brief technical briefing and equipment check, we begin the hike through the Historic Center, with its pedestrian streets, alpine houses, and the unique charm of this pedestrian village.
Ascent to Wank Hill
We take the trail that leads to the summit of Wank Hill, located at 1,620 meters above sea level. The ascent, which takes approximately an hour and a half, takes us over a gradual elevation gain of 260 meters. Along the way, the landscape gradually opens up, offering increasingly impressive views of the valley and the Cordoba mountains.
Descent to the Wildbach and arrival at the Wildermann
From the summit, we begin the descent towards the Wildbach stream —“wild stream” in German—, following its course downstream. The hike leads us to the Wildermann, an imposing granite block visible from the village and a fundamental part of the local climbing history. Here, the first mountaineers left their mark in old summit books, a living testament to the passion for the mountains.
Lunch and rest in the forest
After exploring this corner steeped in history, we head into the forest for a well-deserved rest. We had lunch under the protective shade of the trees, surrounded by the sounds of nature and an atmosphere of absolute serenity.
Return along wooded paths
The return trip took us along ancient paths covered in vegetation, closing the circuit in the historic center of La Cumbrecita around 3:30 p.m., with fresh memories of an experience that combines adventure, culture, and nature.
