The route begins at the entrance bridge to La Cumbrecita, from where you walk through part of the Historic Quarter before taking an uphill path that passes through a picturesque mountain outpost. This initial section offers a mix of local history and mountain nature.
As the walk progresses, the landscape opens up to the Pampa de Achala, a high-altitude environment with grasslands, rocks and a horizon that seems to have no end. Tranquility and silence accompany every step as you ascend through the mountainous terrain.
After about six hours of sustained hiking, you reach the La Lagunita High-Altitude Lagoon, located above the Las Lagunitas Stream at an altitude of over two thousand meters. This natural space invites you to rest and explore its surroundings next to the lagoon.
For the more adventurous, the pure water of the lagoon offers the opportunity for a refreshing swim in a secluded and majestic setting. The return journey follows the same trail to La Cumbrecita, completing a profound and revitalizing experience.
