The tour begins at Villa Alpina, located 1,340 meters above sea level, recognized as the historic starting point to Cerro Champaquí, the highest peak in the province of Córdoba. From there, the hike continues through pine forests as you ascend the eastern slope of Cerro La Mesilla.
After passing through the forest and a first significant gradient, the trail continues through mountain pastures that offer wide views and the purity of the high-altitude air. After approximately three hours, you reach the López family`s Estancia "San José", where you take a brief break before continuing the ascent.
The next section is the most demanding: a zigzag path between granite blocks that leads to the end of the climb. Finally, you reach the summit of Cerro Champaquí, located at 2,790 meters, after overcoming a total elevation gain of 1,450 meters.
At the summit, you can enjoy lunch surrounded by an immense and panoramic landscape, with views that on clear days reach the San Luis mountain ranges and the Calamuchita Valley. The descent returns along the same path to Villa Alpina, thus completing an unforgettable experience for adventure and nature lovers.
